Announcement of the promising results from our ore body testwork conducted for Hawthorn Resources and Hanroy’s high-grade magnetite project in the Central Yilgarn region of WA.
Our metallurgical testing has produced a high-quality iron product with over 70% iron and less than 2.5% silicon—key findings for this pre-feasibility study.
Brian Thornton, MD and CEO of Hawthorn Resources, emphasised that these results will be critical for direct reduction iron (DRI) in future steelmaking.
This advancement supports the development of “cleaner, greener steel” and aligns with our global goal of achieving net-zero economic development.
The quality was achieved by grinding the material to a very fine size of 45µm, potentially leading to a significant premium. Our testing included:
Variability Composites
o Comminution parameters
o Grind liberation
o Magnetic separation and flotation
o Mineralogy
o Dewatering testing
Master Composites
o Validation of process flowsheet through bulk processing
o Investigation of dry low intensity magnetic separation
